Blood pressure is written as two numbers. The higher number (systolic) is pressure when the heart pumps; the lower number (diastolic) is pressure between beats.
| Reading | What it may mean |
|---|---|
| Around 120/80 | Often considered a healthy adult target |
| 130–139 / 80–89 | Discuss lifestyle and follow-up with your clinician |
| 180/120 or higher with symptoms | Seek urgent care |
Home monitors help, but a clinic check confirms the reading and looks for related risks such as diabetes or kidney disease.
